The Problem We're Solving

Cameroon's Youth Face Real Barriers to Scientific and Economic Opportunity

Despite Cameroon's growing population of university graduates, most young scientists and entrepreneurs face a structural gap between their education and meaningful careers. Limited access to mentorship, research infrastructure, business development support, and professional networks leaves significant talent untapped.

01Personal Development
72%

of students report difficulty completing final-year research projects

Students lack structured support for thesis writing and academic excellence

Many students at the University of Buea struggle to complete their thesis projects due to lack of methodological guidance, writing support, and research mentorship. Academic failure at this stage derails careers before they begin.

02Business Development
85%

of organic waste generated in the region goes unrecovered each year

Cameroon's waste management crisis is an untapped economic opportunity

Cameroon generates substantial agricultural and organic waste with little infrastructure for conversion into value-added products. Meanwhile, young entrepreneurs lack the technical and financial support to build biotech-based enterprises.

03Community
60%

of students navigate their university journey without peer support structures

Youth lack accessible, organized platforms for collaborative learning

Outside formal lecture halls, students have no structured community for peer-to-peer study support, resource sharing, or academic collaboration — especially in science and technology disciplines.

BUG was built specifically to address these gaps — not with charity, but with structured programs that develop capability, build enterprises, and strengthen community.

Who We Are

Led by Graduates. Driven by Purpose.

BUG was founded by graduates of the University of Buea who recognised that scientific education alone was not enough to create impact. Bringing together expertise in biotechnology, business, and community development, the founding team built an organisation that grows people and builds enterprises at the same time.
