Our Story

From Campus to Community

What began as a shared frustration among science graduates became a movement. BUG was born at the intersection of ambition and necessity.

Founded in 2024 by a visionary group of graduates from the University of Buea, the Biotech Universe Group was established to bridge the gap between academic theory and practical industrial application. Our founders saw firsthand that scientific knowledge alone was not enough — without structured pathways to apply it, that knowledge went unused.

BUG was built around three core pillars: Personal Development, Business Development, and Humanitarian Activity. These are not just program categories — they are the three answers to three problems we see every day in Cameroon's scientific community.

In partnership with the Microbial Ecological Research Foundation (MERF), we have grown from a student group into a formally registered NGO with 13 active members, three flagship projects, and a network that continues to expand.
